| Abstract: The purpose of this project is to obtain information regarding public opinions on visibility impairment due to air pollution. EPA will use these findings to inform its review of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for Particulate Matter (PM). EPA establishes secondary NAAQS to protect against adverse effects on public welfare, and one of the welfare effects associated with airborne PM is visibility impairment. These focus groups will provide important information on people's views regarding the discernibility and acceptability of differing levels of visibility impairment. |
