| Abstract: On June 22, 2001, EPA issued a proposed amendment to its regional haze rule that would establish guidelines for best available retrofit technology (BART) determinations. The 1999 regional haze rule sets regulations for visibility protection in the country's 156 most treasured scenic areas. Under the Clean Air Act, states must require certain older, large facilities to install the best emission controls available as part of state strategies for meeting the regional haze rule. This file is a fact sheet on the proposed guidelines. |
