Abstract: On November 12, 1999, EPA issued a notice revising the list of industrial sources (known as source categories) for which it intends to develop regulations to control air toxics (also called hazardous air pollutants). The Clean Air Act requires EPA to periodically review and update its list industrial sources. EPA has made several changes to the source categories, based on information that was not available when the agency issued the initial list. The Agency will continue to evaluate newly available data and will routinely review the list to ensure that it is accurate. The November 12 revisions do not include emission control or implementation requirements. Those requirements will be developed according to EPA's rulemaking schedule. The notice changes the rulemaking schedule for one source category and deletes two categories.
