Abstract: This file is a fact sheet about new source performance standards (NSPS) EPA issued on Nov. 3, 2000 to reduce air pollution emissions from new small municipal waste combustion (small MWC) units. The standards for small MWC units were originally issued in December, 1995 but were vacated by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in March 1997. In response to the 1997 Court ruling, EPA proposed to reestablish the standards for small MWC units (August 30, 1999). The new source performance standards contained in this final rule are equivalent to the 1995 standards for small MWC units.
