| Abstract: The EPA is proposing national emission standards or hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) for leather finishing operations which are major sources of hazardous air pollutant (HAP) emissions such as glycol ethers, toluene, and xylene. The EPA estimates that these proposed NESHAP would reduce nationwide emissions of HAP from leather finishing operations and would reduce non-HAP emissions of volatile organic compounds. The emissions reductions achieved by these proposed NESHAP, when combined with the emission reductions achieved by other similar standards, will provide protection to the public and achieve a primary goal of the CAA. |
