Abstract: On June 11, 1999 EPA temporarily stayed the effectiveness of the final actions on the section 126 petitions submitted by eight northeastern states. The stay is effective until November 30, 1999. It will effectively separate the section 126 petitions from the recent May 14 court decision on the national ambient air quality standards for ozone and particulate matter and the May 25 court decision on the NOx SIP call.
