The Border 2012 Scrap Tire Group held sessions on emerging market trends, laws and regulations related to scrap tire management, and scrap tire program development on March 12-13, 2009.

Presentations

A "Forum for Developing Sustainable Scrap Tire Management Plans" was the theme for the third Border 2012 Tire Group meeting. The forum presented six actions central to developing sustainable scrap tire management plans.

The forum was held in conjunction with the International Tire Conference which was hosted by the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB).

The Border 2012 Tire Group met during the Cross-Border Environmental Management: Scrap Tires and Used Oil Conference in Austin, Texas. The LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin hosted the meeting where scrap tire stakeholders activities were discussed. Additionally, a description of scrap tire pile prevention actions was given along with an update on border legislation from Senator Elliot Shapleigh of Texas.
