Interim Operation Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement
Since the advanced primary treatment facilities of the IWTP are scheduled to be completed prior to the secondary treatment facilities and the South Bay Ocean Outfall, the EPA and IBWC have prepared an SEIS to evaluate alternatives for discharge of treated effluent during this interim period (2-5 years). A second SEIS will be prepared in early 1998 to address alternatives to the present activated sludge design for secondary treatment.
The public comment periods on both the draft and final Interim Operation SEIS have ended, and we have responded to the comments received on each of these documents. EPA and the IBWC announced a Record of Decision for Interim Operation of the IWTP in March 1997. These documents are available for online viewing and/or download below.
