The ratings for this category are based on potential lateral as well as vertical instability (Step 24 and Step 25), the streambank erosion prediction (BEHI, NBS) summarized in Worksheet 14 (PDF version, 43 kb, 1 p., or Excel spreadsheet) and Worksheet 23 (PDF, 23 kb, 1 p.) and corresponding prediction of erosion rates beyond natural, stable rates (reference reach). Departure from reference condition for enlargement is documented at this step, and data are recorded in Worksheet 30.
