National Water Program Strategy: Response to Climate Change
PUBLIC REVIEW DRAFT AVAILABLE FOR COMMENT
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Water has made available for comment a public review draft of the National Water Program Strategy: Response to Climate Change. This draft document represents the National Water Program’s initial effort to identify potential impacts of climate change for clean water and drinking water programs and define actions to respond to these impacts. A March 28, 2008, memorandum signed by the Assistant Administrator for Water requests comments on the draft strategy.

Public Webcast on May 8th
On Thursday, May 8, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm EDT, the Office of Water will host a Webcast to discuss and answer questions about this draft Strategy. The Webcast will highlight the impacts of a changing climate on water resources and water programs, as well as identify some of the key actions EPA is proposing in the Strategy to respond to these impacts. The archived webcast presentation will be posted here within a few days.
Background Information
A March 1, 2007, memorandum signed by the Assistant Administrator for Water describes the general principles to guide the National Water Program in responding to climate change, proposes the development of a National Water Program strategy on climate change, and announces the formation of a National Water Program Climate Change Workgroup.
