Administrator Participates in Recognition of Clean Water Act

EPA Administrator Christie Todd Whitman will be the featured speaker on Sept. 30, at the Water Environment Federation conference in Chicago, Illinois. Administrator Whitman will give a major address before about 3,000 attendees.

Deputy Assistant Administrator Recognizes Excellence

EPA's Office of Water Deputy Assistant Administrator, Benjamin Grumbles, is scheduled to present the U.S. EPA National Clean Water Act Recognition Awards on Sept. 30, at the Water Environment Federation conference. Thirty-one national awards are being given to municipalities and industries for their outstanding performance in wastewater treatment and pollution abatement programs.

National Estuaries Day Celebration -October 3, 2002

National Estuaries Day celebrates the important contribution of estuaries to the economy and to our personal enjoyment. On Oct. 3, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will jointly sponsor Estuary Live! to celebrate National Estuaries Day. This exciting interactive educational program offers students across the country the opportunity to tour eight of the nation's most valued estuaries using satellite technology and the internet. Coastal Technology Conference Organizers Seek Papers

The EPA Office of Water is hosting a conference to encourage technology transfer among those involved in coastal management. The conference, "Emerging Technologies, Tools, and Techniques for managing our Coasts in the 21st Century," is scheduled Jan. 28-30, 2003 in Cocoa Beach , Florida. The deadline for submitting abstracts for papers addressing the conference theme, Coasts and Oceans: Assessment, Management, Restoration, and Measuring Results, has been extended to Sept. 27, 2002.
