EPA Receives Awards at the World Watershed Summit

The recent World Watershed Summit in Washington, DC brought together government and private sector leaders to discuss future directions for water resources management. The summit included a AYear of Clean Water Awards Dinner@ which commemorated the 30th Anniversary of the Clean Water Act (CWA) with Ambassador Howard Baker and William D. Ruckelshaus reflecting, via videotape, on the achievements and challenges facing the CWA. A number of awards were presented at the dinner including among others: a Federal award to USEPA accepted by Linda Fisher, Deputy Administrator for EPA, and Tracy Mehan, Assistant Administrator for Water; a retirement award for Robert H. Wayland III, Director, EPA=s Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds; Pamela Grant, Special Assistant for Communication in the Office of Water, for her leadership in coordinating the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Year of Clean Water activities; and Special Recognition Awards for those that assisted with the Year of Clean Water events including: Steve Giordano, Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds; and Jan Sutfin, Teacher/Advisor for the Youth Watershed Summit. Brazilian Visitors Meet with EPA

Office of Water and Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance/Assessment staff recently met with 11 environmental and policy analysts from PATRI, Inc., a Brazilian consulting firm.
