Registration Date Extended for Environmental Quality and Agriculture Conference

The registration period for the Environmental Quality and Agriculture Conference (Balancing Nutrients and Enhancing the Environment) has been extended until Oct.10, 2003. Its goals are to raise crop & livestock producer, industry, regulatory and stakeholder awareness of how nutrient management is impacted by proposed regulation and public policy. It will provide a positive atmosphere to exchange ideas and formulate solutions for efficient yet responsible nutrient use. American Water Works Association Receives Grant for Water Security Training

G. Tracy Mehan III, Environmental Protection Agency's Assistant Administrator of Water, announced the grant award of about $1 million to the American Water Works Association (AWWA) today. The AWWA intends to use these funds to pursue several training initiatives for community small water systems that serve populations of 3,300 to 50,000 people. The training will include the following:

  • Risk Assessment Training for Small Systems
  • Emergency Response Planning (ERP) Training
  • Crisis Communications Training
  • Assembly of First Responders
  • Security Hardware Education
