WATERS Forum – Enabling Informed Decision-MakingEPA’s WATERS (Watershed Assessment, Tracking, and Environmental ResultS) team and stakeholders on Dec. 4 hosted a Forum to showcase recent internet accomplishments. WATERS is an internet-based tool that integrates information from water program databases through linkages to the surface water drainage network contained within the National Hydrography Dataset. The Forum highlighted examples of national and State analyses (program prioritization, policy development, congressional reporting, etc.) conducted using this integrating framework and included an overview of innovative data integration techniques, services, and tools. Presentations by the Office of Water, the Office of Environmental Information, the State of Minnesota, and the US Geological Survey were well-received and have already led to discussions of future collaborative work amongst Federal and State partners. For copies of information presented at the Forum and for more information on WATERS, please visit the web site at: (www.epa.gov/waters/doc/index.html).
