Nutrient Criteria Database Query Tool Help

You can retrieve information from the Nutrient Criteria Database by state or ecoregion. Once you select the geography, the query engine returns a form where you can select additional criteria.

Selecting Additional Criteria

Select a Waterbody Type

You must select a waterbody type to continue with your search. If you do not select a waterbody type, the query engine will return an error message. Waterbody types include: Estuary or Coastal marine water, Lake or Pond, Marine or Tidal River, Other, Reservoir, and River or Stream.

Select one or more counties

Although it is not mandatory to select a county, using this option can narrow your search results. When you select a state from the query page, the county field is populated with a list of counties in that state. Note: Only counties with water monitoring stations are listed.

Select one or more parameters

You have the option to retrieve information for specific parameters (e.g., alkalinity, turbidity). To select more than one parameter, hold the Ctrl key.

Enter the Sample Start Date and Enter the Sample End Date

You can enter the start or end date to refine your search. Be sure to enter the date in MM/DD/YYYY format (e.g., 01/01/2000). Also, make sure that the sample date is earlier than the end date and that both the start date and the end date are earlier than the current date.

Query Output

You can pick the type of output you want from the following reports: Parameter Statistics by State/Ecoregion, Parameter Statistics by Agency/Parameter Statistics by Ecoregion (depending on whether the state or ecoregion query was selected), Parameter Summary by Station, or Parameter Values by Agency/Station. Each of these reports provide a unique set of information as described in the following section.

Parameter Statistics by State/Ecoregion

The Parameter Summary by State/Ecoregion option provides statistical information related to parameters grouped by State and Ecoregion. Following are the list of fields provided in the Parameter Statistics by State/Ecoregion report.

Parameter Statistics by Agency

The Parameter Summary by Agency option provides statistical information related to parameters by Agency. Parameters are grouped by agency, State, county, and ecoregion. Following are the list of fields provided in the Parameter Statistics by Agency report.

The Parameter Summary by Ecoregion option provides statistical information related to parameters by Ecoregion. Following are the list of fields provided in the Parameter Statistics by Ecoregion report.

Parameter Summary by Station

The Parameter Summary by Station option lists the number of parameter observations for every station that falls within the criteria selected on the State Selection Criteria Form or the Aggregate Nutrient Ecoregion Selection Criteria Form. The report is sorted by agency and station. The results provide identification and location information about the station, and high-level information about the observations. Following are the list of fields provided in the Parameter Summary by Station report.

Parameter Values by Agency/Station

The Parameter Values by Agency/Station option provides high level information related to samples. It contains remark code information as well as the reported value and adjusted value. The report is sorted by agency and station. Following are the list of fields provided in the Parameter Values by Agency/Station report.
