Welcome and Introductions
At 1:00 PM Bob Wheeler, facilitator, welcomed participants to the call, conducted a roll call of Technical Work Group members and observers, and briefly reviewed the agenda for the meeting. The primary purpose of the meeting, he said, was to finalize preparations for the March 29-30 advisory committee meeting, including reviewing the agenda for the meeting, reviewing Technical Work Group products and agreeing on presentations to the advisory committee.
He asked for comments on the draft summaries of the March 8 and March 10, 2006 Technical Work Group conference calls. There were no comments and the summaries were approved, as drafted.
March 29-30 Agenda for the Federal Advisory Committee
Mr. Wheeler briefly reviewed the agenda for the upcoming federal advisory committee and identified the materials for each part of the agenda. There was a brief discussion about the time allotted for specific items. Mr. Wheeler noted that the agenda was designed with maximum flexibility in mind to allow the committee to work toward as much agreement as possible on policy issues, including issues related to design of pilot testing.
Technical Work Group Products/Questions to Pose during the March 29-30 Meeting
The Technical Work Group reviewed draft Technical Work Group products, one by one, and edited the wording in several of the documents. It also briefly reviewed a set of draft questions to pose to the advisory committee as input into additional work following the March 29-30 meeting.
Technical Work Group Presentations
The Technical Work Group discussed both the pros and cons and the rationale for presenting specific information about data and how they behave as concentrations change. It was agreed that Steve Bonde and John Phillips would work with Ken Miller to draft several presentation slides and send them to the Group for review in advance of the meeting.
The Group agreed that Larry LaFleur would present the Regression-Based (aka Multi/Interlab) Design Subgroup's work and Richard Burrows would present the Single-Lab Design Subgroup report.
