- Add two terms to the glossary and bring copies for distribution at the committee meeting in July.
Welcome and Introductions
At 1:00 p.m., Bob Wheeler, facilitator, welcomed participants to the call, conducted a roll call of Technical Work Group members and observers, and briefly reviewed the agenda for the meeting.
Mr. Wheeler said the primary purpose of today's meeting was to discuss revisions to the glossary of terms, discuss presentations and the "Meet and Greet" session prior to the July committee meeting, and hear a status update on data evaluation and the pilot study bidding process.
Meeting Summaries from June 9 and June 21
First, Mr. Wheeler asked for comments to the draft summaries from meetings #32 and #33. He noted that Nicole Shao caught several mistakes, and after reviewing those, asked if there were any additional revisions or clarifications needed. There were not and the summaries were approved as revised (#32) and as written (#33).
Additional Terms for the Glossary
Mr. Wheeler asked everyone if they had received an email from Cliff Kirchmer (via Derek Van Marter) just prior to the meeting with three suggested additions to the glossary of terms. Many on the call had seen the email. The discussion of adding the terms focused on the philosophy of the glossary's existence. The group agreed that the purpose of the glossary was to ensure that everyone on the committee understood the terms being used. If a term was not being used, there was little need to redefine them. Under that basic premise, the group agreed to add two of the three terms and corresponding definitions proposed by Mr. Kirchmer. The two terms to be added are "analytical response" and "analytical result."
Committee Presentation and "Meet and Greet" Session Approaches
Mr. Wheeler said that the format for the evening of July 12 will be an informal discussion of the pilot design and the data calculations/analyses. He said Ken Miller will be present, as will members from the Pilot Study Design Team. Posters will be available to the group to discuss and clarify any questions that arise.
During the committee meeting, Bob Wheeler will present a maximum of 4 slides regarding the pilot study design. Ken Miller will present a few slides on the data calculations and analyses, as well as the questions the Technical Work Group is asking of the committee.
Status Update on Data Evaluation
Ken Miller said that he did not have an update. He said he previously asked the Pilot Study Design Team to look at the MMA data evaluation to determine appropriate spike levels for the IDE/IQE and the LC-MRL procedures.
Richard Reding also gave a brief update of the bidding process for the pilot study. He said he did not know how many bids had been received, but he did know bids had already come back.
Future Meeting Schedule
Mr. Wheeler reviewed the proposed draft meeting schedule distributed via email prior to the meeting. While the schedule is tentative, Mr. Wheeler did encourage the group to put the dates in their calendars. He said the regular Technical Work Group conference call schedule will resume on Wednesday, August 2 at 1:00 PM (EDT).
Public Comment
There were no public comments.
Wrap-up and Closing
Mr. Wheeler briefly reviewed the assignments from the call and thanked everyone for their participation. He encouraged everyone to attend the "Meet and Greet" session the evening of July 12, and said he looked forward to seeing members of the committee again next week.
He adjourned the meeting at 1:50 PM EDT.
