Showerheads
Showering is one of the top uses of residential water in the United
States, representing approximately 17 percent of indoor water use-more
than 1.2 trillion gallons of water each year. To improve the water
efficiency of showerheads and help consumers reduce their water
bills, WaterSense has issued a notification
of intent (NOI) (PDF) (5 pp, 46K, About PDF)
to develop a specification for high-efficiency showerheads. In addition,
EPA is working to ensure that WaterSense labeled showerheads perform
as well as or better than their less-efficient counterparts.
The showerhead notification of intent outlines EPA's approach to
developing a draft specification, the water-efficiency and performance
criteria WaterSense is working to define, and the technical issues
that are still being resolved. EPA is interested in hearing your
input! If you have comments or suggestions, please send them to
watersense_showerheads@erg.com.
WaterSense will post updates periodically, so check back regularly
for more information and recent developments.
