Jessica Leighton, Ph.D., M.P.H.


Jessica Leighton, Ph.D., M.P.H.,has worked at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for the past 15 years. For the last four years, she has been the Assistant Commissioner for the Bureau of Environmental Disease Prevention. In this capacity she oversees the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, the Environmental and Occupational Disease Epidemiology Program and components of the NYCDOH’s Emergency Preparedness efforts. Dr. Leighton is a member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Childhood Lead Poisoning. She has a Ph.D. in epidemiology and a Masters degree in Public Health, both from Columbia University.
