The seventh panel meeting was held on October 05, 2004, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, eastern daylight savings time. On-site registration began at 8:30am. The meeting was held at St. John's University, Saval Auditorium, 101 Murray Street (between Greenwich Street and West Side Highway), New York City (Manhattan). The auditorium is located on the second floor of the building and is accessible to those with handicaps. A government-issued identification (e.g., driver's license) is required for entry.

Biosketches for Panel Member Alternates and Presenters at the October 5 Meeting
  • Janet Heinrich, DrPH, RN

    Dr. Heinrich is a Director for the Health Care Group in the U.S. Government Accountability Office. She oversees all issues dealing with Public Health. She was Director of the American Academy of Nursing for seven years and before that -- served as the Director of Extramural Programs for the National Institute of Nursing Research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She has experience as a public health nurse in both urban and rural areas and worked in public policy at the local, state and federal levels.

    Dr. Heinrich is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She received a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene & Public Health, and a Doctorate of Public Health from Yale University, Department of Epidemiology & Public Health in the School of Medicine.

  • Anthony M. Szema, M.D., FCCP, FACAAI, FAAAAI, FACP

    Dr. Szema is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Assistant Professor of Surgery/Otolaryngology, Director of the Allergy and Asthma Center, and Director of the Fellowship Training Program in Clinical Adult and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology (2004-present) at the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. In addition, he holds the post of Chief of the Allergy Section, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Northport, N.Y. Dr. Szema is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Clinical Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, and Critical Care Medicine 2002, ACLS, ATLS, PALS 2003. His research and committee projects include: Bronchodilation and Anti-Inflammatory Responses by VIP; Program chair for plenary session, CHEST 2003, American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP); Award for distinguished service from ACCP 2002; Chair, Airways Network, ACCP (2000-2002); and Vice Chair, Allergy and Clinical Immunology Committee ACCP 1999.

    Dr. Szema received his B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Industrial and Management Engineering in 1986 and his M.D. from Albany Medical College in 1991. He served his residency in Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia. He also received fellowships at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York in: Pulmonary Medicine, 1994-6; in Clinical Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology 1995-7; and in Critical Care Medicine 1996-7.
