The EPA Mid-Atlantic Region proposes to reissue the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority’s current National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit No. DC0021199 for the proposed draft permit which currently allows the discharge of treated wastewater into waters of the District from the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant (BPWWTP). The BPWWTP serves the District of Columbia, as well as portions of Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland and Fairfax and Loudoun counties in Virginia.

EPA Region III proposes to extend the 30-day public comment period for the draft NPDES Permit for the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant to the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water). The current comment period is scheduled to end October 2, 2017. By this notice, EPA is extending the comment period by an additional 30 days to end on November 1, 2017.
