Global Mitigation of Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases

Global Mitigation of Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases, 2010-2030: Waste

Waste water tanksThe waste sector includes landfills and municipal wastewater systems. Methane (CH4) emissions from these two sectors account for 12% of projected 2030 global non-CO2 emissions, or approximately 1,568 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e). Assuming full implementation of current technology, the global abatement potential for the waste sector is projected to be 807 MtCO2e in 2030.
