Grand Calumet River Area of Concern

The Grand Calumet River was designated as an Area of Concern under the 1987 Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. $288 million from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative's Great Lakes Legacy Act program is used to remediate and restore this AOC for removal from the binational list of AOCs.

Indiana Harbor Canal Great Lakes Legacy Act Cleanup

EPA and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management are investigating an option for the off-site disposal of sediment dredged from PCB-contaminated “hot spots” in the Indiana Harbor Canal.
