The Oswego River Area of Concern becomes the first American AOC to be delisted.

The Oswego River Stage III RAP is finalized following an environmental notice bulletin and 45-day public comment period.

Oswego River Remedial Action Plan Stage III


Most hazardous waste remediation is completed. Locations of remedial action projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Columbia Mills site
  • Volney Landfill
  • Clay Town Landfill
  • Clothier site
  • Fulton Terminals

A two-day Remedial Action Plan workshop is held to gain better understanding of a fish pathology study (1996 RAP) and define future restoration actions. Use impairment indicators are also addressed.

  • Restrictions on fish and wildlife consumption
  • Degradation of fish and wildlife populations
  • Loss of fish and wildlife habitat
  • Eutrophication or undesirable algae

A Remedial Action Plan update is published that includes results of a fish pathology study from 1993-1994.

A water quality study is conducted in which the causes and status of several use impairments are investigated.
