Climate Pollution Reduction Grants
The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program provides nearly $5 billion in grants to states, local governments, tribes, and territories to develop and implement ambitious plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. Authorized under Section 60114 of the Inflation Reduction Act, this two-phase program provides $250 million for noncompetitive planning grants, and approximately $4.6 billion for competitive implementation grants.
Announcements
September 5, 2024 – EPA has announced the selected recipients of $300 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants for Tribes and U.S. Territories. EPA has selected 34 applications to receive funding for projects proposed by 33 Tribes and Tribal consortia and the Municipality of Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. These 34 selected applications complement the 25 applications selected to receive over $4.3 billion under the CPRG Implementation Grants General Competition announced in July 2024. Together, the selected applications will implement community-driven solutions to tackle the climate crisis, reduce air pollution, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the clean energy transition. September 4-6, 2024 – Thank you to all the CPRG planning grantees and speakers who attended the CPRG Planning Grant Workshop in Minneapolis last week. A survey and information about shared resources will be forthcoming to all planning grantees.

EPA held two competitions for $4.6 billion for CPRG implementation grants – a general competition and a competition only for tribes and territories.
