2019 Evaluation of the FQPA Safety Factor for Pyrethroids

EPA has re-evaluated the need to retain the current threefold (3X) Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) Safety Factor for human health risk assessments for pyrethroid pesticides.

Previously, EPA used a 3X FQPA Safety Factor to account for possible pharmacokinetic differences between adults and children. Based on a comprehensive review of new data, however, the Agency has concluded that reducing the total FQPA safety factor for pyrethroids to 1X will be protective for infants and children.

Learn the regulatory history of the evaluation of the pyrethroids FQPA safety factor.
