Webinar: Innovative Organic Waste Management Projects

LMOP, AgSTAR, and the Sustainable Materials Management Program plan to host a webinar about innovative organic waste management projects during the 3rd quarter of 2022 (postponed from July 14). The new date and time are to be determined. Online registration remains open. If you have already registered for this event you will not need to re-register when the new date is announced.

Attendance at this webinar is free of charge, but online registration is required.

Rethinking how organic wastes are managed in the United States can achieve significant environmental, public health and economic benefits. When manure, organic materials and food wastes degrade naturally, they release methane—a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) that is 28 to 36 times more effective than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere over a 100-year period. However, management of organic wastes through anaerobic digestion offers a solution that will lower emissions of methane and non-methane organic compounds (NMOCs), reduce odors, minimize leachate generation and conserve landfill space.

Learn what EPA is doing to help reduce methane emissions from manure, landfills, and organic wastes. And hear from American Biogas Council’s 2022 Biogas Industry Award Finalists and Recipients about their innovative projects and lessons learned along the way to developing successful projects and technologies.
