Clean Water Act (CWA) Hazardous Substances Spill Prevention Virtual Public Input Meeting
Date and TimeThursday 12/01/2016 2:00PM to 4:00PM EST
Registration DeadlineMonday 11/28/2016 5:00PM EST
Two virtual public input meetings will be held online via web conferences.
- November 29, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST; and
- December 1, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM EST.
These meetings offer interested parties the opportunity to provide their views on topics they believe the EPA should consider during the proposed rulemaking development. These topics may include prevention of discharges of hazardous substances, and the containment of such discharges, from onshore facilities; or methodologies and technologies for preventing such discharges. Speakers will be allowed up to 5 minutes each to present verbal comments. EPA will make every effort to accommodate all registered speakers. EPA will not respond to the presentations, or questions, during the meeting.
Registration is required to attend these meetings. You must register no later than the day before the selected meeting date by clicking the “Register” button on this page after selecting a date. When registering, you should indicate whether or not you plan to speak. If you require the service of a translator or interpreter, we ask that you pre-register for the meeting on or before November 18, 2016, to allow sufficient time to arrange such accommodations.
The Clean Water Act Section 311(j)(1)(C) requires that EPA issue regulations “establishing procedures, methods, and equipment and other requirements for equipment to prevent discharges of … hazardous substances … from onshore facilities … and to contain such discharges.” EPA plans to host three opportunities during 2016 for interested parties to provide relevant information for EPA to consider when developing a proposed rulemaking addressing hazardous substances under CWA 311(j)(1)(C). These virtual meetings will be the second and third of these opportunities.
EPA intends to post on its website a summary document reflecting information gathered from these meetings.
Electronic copies providing summary information of EPA’s activities in developing a CWA 311(j)(1)(C) rulemaking addressing hazardous substances are available:
- Hazardous Substances Spill Prevention Letter of Intent; and
