Public Meeting for Beazer/INDSPEC in Petrolia, PA - EPA ID: PAD004336731

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has scheduled a public meeting to present the proposed Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA-Corrective Action) remedy for the Beazer/INDSPEC facility (Facility). The public meeting will be held on March 19, 2018 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall located at 200 Argyle Street, Petrolia PA 16050
The 325-acre Facility is located at 133 Main Street, Petrolia PA 16050. The Facility has been used for industrial purposes since 1915. Koppers Company purchased it in 1947 and operated a chemical manufacturing plant there until 1988, when Koppers Company became the company currently known as Beazer East, Inc. and sold approximately 263 acres of the Facility to ISC Acquisition Company. ISC Acquisition Company changed its name to INDSPEC Chemical Corporation in 1989 and continued to use the Facility to produce primarily resorcinol, a chemical used in adhesives, dyes, pharmaceuticals, skin creams, and many other products until the Facility ceased operations in July 2017.
