EPA Regional Administrator visits collaborative land restoration effort in Butte, Montana
June, 2016 – EPA visited the Native Plant Program at Montana Tech in Butte, Montana to see how native plants are being used for land reclamation including the Superfund cleanup action in Butte.
The visit demonstrated how using native plant materials can benefit restoration and reclamation efforts. “Native plants are more adapted to local conditions,” said Shaun McGrath, EPA Region 8 Administrator. “They enhance diversity and are more likely to survive and protect the remedy.”
The visit highlighted how EPA can engage local experts and resources to better address environmental cleanup and stewardship.
