Sania Tong-Argao

Physical scientistSania W. Tong Argao is a Physical Scientist at the US EPA and conducts research on air pollutants such as particulate matter to support source apportionment modeling. Her work includes the analysis of field air samples for source markers, chemicals characteristic of specific air pollutant sources (e.g. wood burning, gasoline engines, diesel engines, etc.), in order to provide information on which air pollutant source(s) may have likely contributed to air pollution. Sania's background is in Environmental Toxicology, and she has a MS degree in Public Health Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago - School of Public Health's Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences Division where she studied the effects of hormonally active pesticides on prostate cancer cells in vitro. Sania has graduated from a two-year professional career development program, the EPA Intern Program, and is willing to share information about this program to those who are interested. Sania is also a charter member of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals - NC Triangle Chapter. Also, she majored in Biology/Pre-medicine with a minor in Environmental Studies while an undergrad at Augustana College (Rock Island, IL).

Note: There is no charge for a speaker. Travel is limited to (~50 miles) out of the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) area. All travel is up to the discretion of the speaker. Please submit requests at least 4 weeks in advance. Please limit requests to no more than two speakers per event.
