Sustainable Materials Management Partnership Programs
EPA is re-envisioning its Sustainable Materials Management partnership efforts to align with our new strategies. EPA recognizes the value these programs have had for the past three decades in moving the American economy in a more sustainable direction. EPA looks forward to continuing and accelerating that work with our partners in the years ahead.
EPA will soon offer an exciting new partnership opportunity building on the success of the following programs:
- Food Recovery Challenge.
- SMM Electronics Challenge.
- Federal Green Challenge.
- State Measurement Program.
In the coming months, EPA will offer opportunities for organizations to engage with us on a new effort.

As of Sept. 20, 2021, existing partners no longer have access to the above EPA partnership programs or associated data in the Re-TRAC Connect data management system. However, if you have a member account in Re-TRAC Connect, you will maintain your account access for any non-EPA programs. If you have questions about previous data from any partnership program, please contact WasteWiseHelp@epa.gov.
If you are interested in continuing your waste tracking, EPA’s free ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool is available to manage energy, water, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions – all in one secure online environment.
EPA will recognize partners for their achievements in 2019 and 2020. EPA plans to announce WasteWise and Food Recovery Challenge awardees for efforts in 2019 and 2020 in early 2022 and will announce Electronics Challenge Awards for outstanding efforts in 2020 in spring 2022.
