Comment on EPA’s Proposed Cleanup Plan for the San Jacinto River Waste Pits Superfund Site
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), announces a Public Comment Period and public meeting regarding the proposed cleanup strategy for the San Jacinto River Waste Pits Superfund Site in Harris County, Texas. The EPA’s preferred remedy will address dioxin and furan contamination in a set of impoundments impacted by liquid pulp and paper mill wastes disposed in the impoundments.
THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD WILL BE EXTENDED AN ADDITIONAL 45 DAYS FROM THE CURRENT END DATE OF NOVEMBER 28, 2016, TO JANUARY 12, 2017.
Written comments will be accepted during the comment period and at the EPA Public Meeting (written or oral) on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the Highlands Community Center, 604 Highland Woods Drive, Highlands, Texas at 6:30 p.m.
