Underground Injection Control (UIC)

Public Notice: Draft Class II UIC Permit No. ND22349-11250 for the Red Murphy SWD No. 1 operated by Goodnight Midstream Bakken, LLC in Dunn County, North Dakota

Publish Date: 06/01/2018

Goodnight Midstream Bakken, LLC’s requested a permit for disposal of Class II wastes associated with oil and gas production in Dunn County, North Dakota. This is for a commercial disposal well, which allows for the acceptance of waste streams from other operators. Because this is a commercial well a greater amount of site security and waste tracking are required.

The proposed injection zone is the Inyan Kara formation at depth between 5,195 and 5,645 feet below ground surface. This is a common zone for oil and gas waste disposal in North Dakota and is isolated from the nearest drinking water source by several thousand feet of confinement including the Pierre Shale.

Proposed action: The EPA proposes issuance of Draft Class II Permit to authorize Class II waste disposal wells on privately-owned land within the exterior boundary of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in Dunn County, North Dakota.
