Public Notice: Wesco Operating, Inc, Wind River Indian Reservation, Permit No. WY20673-03091
Project Background Information: Wesco Operating, Inc. (Wesco) has submitted an Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit application for the existing Riverton East 36-3 Class II salt water disposal well. The Riverton East 36-3 has operated as an injection well since October 1971 and was authorized by rule as part of the EPA administered UIC program on the Wind River Indian Reservation, which became effective on November 25, 1988. The Riverton East 36-3 is a vertical well that has injected fluids brought to the surface in connection with oil or natural gas production into the Frontier Formation and Nugget Sandstone. The sources of injected fluids originate from oil and gas production wells operated by Wesco in the East Riverton Dome Field.
Proposed Action: EPA proposes issuance of a permit to conditionally authorize the continued operation of a Class II salt water disposal well on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
