Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Training Module about Boilers and Industrial Furnaces

***NOTE***

This module was last updated in 2000 so it has not been updated to reflect regulatory changes that have been made since then. Though this is still a useful resource, it is not intended to serve as a comprehensive source of regulatory information. For recent regulatory information, visit our hazardous waste permitting website.

This training module:

  • Introduces the concept of burning hazardous wastes in units regulated under RCRA and outlines the requirements for one type of device — boilers and industrial furnaces (BIF).
  • Defines boilers and industrial furnaces and describe the criteria associated with the definitions.
  • Describes the requirements for processing hazardous waste in BIFs, including the distinctions between permitted and interim status units.
  • Explains the requirements for the specially regulated BIF units.

Access other training modules that provide overviews of other specific RCRA regulatory topics here.
