EPA has issued regulations under Section 609 of the Clean Air Act establishing standards and requirements regarding the servicing of motor vehicle air conditioners (MVAC) and MVAC-like appliances. Regulations developed under Section 609 of the Clean Air Act are promulgated in 40 CFR part 82, subpart B. Additional provisions including a prohibition on intentional releases of refrigerant and requirements for refrigerants used in stationary refrigeration and air-conditioning are governed under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
