EPA Recognizes Connecticut and Staples as Two of Nation's Top Green Power Purchasers

News Story GraphicFor the third year in a row, the State of Connecticut has been named one of only three states making EPA's top 50 list of national Green Power Partners, ranking 36th on that list. Additionally, Staples, Inc., the worlds' largest office supply company, based in Framingham, Mass., is being recognized for the sixth year in a row by EPA as one of the top 50 organizations taking voluntary steps to use and purchase green power.

Settlement with Revere, Mass. Addresses Wastewater, Stormwater Discharges

News Story GraphicUnder the terms of a Consent Decree lodged in federal court, the City of Revere, Mass. will significantly reduce illegal discharges of raw sewage overflows into the environment from its wastewater collection system and separate storm sewer system. The City has estimated that it will spend approximately $50 million to address these illegal discharges. Revere will also pay a civil penalty of $130,000 for past violations of the Clean Water Act.

City of Somerville and Vermont Organizations Receive $1.2M in EPA Funding for Brownfields

News Story GraphicThe City of Somerville will receive $400,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help clean contaminated sites known as brownfields. Additionally, two Vermont organizations will share $800,000 from EPA to help clean contaminated sites known as brownfields. This funding is part of more than $16 million for brownfields allotted nationally and $3 million allotted in New England by EPA.
