An public information meeting will be held on Wed. May 25th at 6 p.m. to discuss the status of the approximately $1.5 million cleanup planned for the former Electrosonics facility in Chesterfield, NH. The meeting, jointly hosted by EPA and the N.H. Dept. of Environmental Services (NH DES), will be held at Chesterfield Town Hall, 518 Route 63.

At the meeting, EPA and NH DES representatives will discuss the status of the cleanup planned for the former facility; including plans to restrict access to the site, remove hazardous materials from the facility, potential plans to demolish 2 site buildings, and conducting additional sampling investigations to identify the extent of soil contamination at the property.

The approximate half-acre site, located on Route 9A and adjacent to Partridge Brook, was once used as a printed circuit board manufacturing business and later used to house several small businesses. During previous investigations at the site, EPA and NH DES determined the soil at the site to be contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and metals such as lead. Three residences in the immediate vicinity to the site have contaminated drinking water wells which are being treated by NH DES-installed water treatment systems.

Once started, the work is expected to take less than 6 months. Additional information on the project is available at
