The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and other members of the Interagency Steering Committee (ISC) will hold an open house to provide an opportunity for the community to meet the agencies involved in the oversight of the BKK Landfill and to get an update on the activities at the site.  This is an important event for the community to attend because the landfill is closing in September 1996.
Special five-minute presentations are sheduled at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the status of the landfill closure and the results of recent inspections and vinyl chloride sampling.  Exhibits will include the South Coast Air Quality Management District's technical support van with hands-on sampling equipment.  Slide shows will be presented providing an overview of the landfill and groundwater investigations.
