EPA Hosts Two Brownfields Grant Workshops in October

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Kansas City, Kan., Oct. 4, 2006) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 7, will host two one-day Brownfields grant workshops during October to help communities improve their Brownfields grant proposals. The workshops will be held on the following dates:

The workshops are free, but all participants must register as soon as possible to attend. The workshops are designed to cover the basics of how to submit a proposal to the EPA Brownfields Program and guidance for improving the quality of proposals.
The major workshop agenda topics will include:
· The different grant types EPA provides for Brownfields
· Who is eligible to apply
· The grant application process
· Threshold and ranking criteria
· What makes a good application
· Grant writing tips
The workshops will include presentations from the state voluntary cleanup programs. Participants will have time to meet with a representative from their state program to gather suggestions for their Brownfields grant proposals.
