EPA Joins Philly Nonprofit in Recognizing Graduates of Environmental Jobs Training Program
(PHILADELPHIA -- May 12, 2015) EPA Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin today recognized the Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) and graduates of ECA's jobs training program for successfully completing training for possible careers in environmental cleanup work. The jobs training was made possible through a nearly $200,000 EPA Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Grant to ECA.
ECA graduated its inaugural class today at its nationally-accredited Knight Training Center on 106 West Clearfield Street in Philadelphia.
"EPA appreciates the great work ECA is doing, including training and placing Philadelphia residents in important jobs, bringing pride to their neighborhoods, and improving their communities," said Regional Administrator Garvin. "The success of this program is a testament to the graduates and the value of programs that leverage federal and local partnerships."
Graduates are now trained to work in environmental areas including: hazardous waste operations and emergency response, solid waste management and cleanup, wastewater treatment and stormwater management, and enhanced environmental health and safety.
