EPA Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
Notwithstanding the lapse in appropriations, the public may continue to submit FOIA requests to EPA via the FOIAXpress public access link. FOIA requests may also be submitted to EPA via the FOIA.gov portal and by U.S. mail, addressed to National FOIA Office, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (2310A), Washington, DC 20460.
Because of the lapse in appropriations, EPA may not be able to assign staff to respond to your request and EPA’s response may be delayed
The FOIA allows any person access to federal agency records. All agencies, including the EPA, have the duty to release records to the public. To balance the public's right to know with efficient government operations, the FOIA allows agencies to withhold nine categories of information from the public if disclosure of that information would harm government or private interests.
