The Louisiana Military Department (LMD) led a Community Meeting on June 30, 2015. The LMD contractor, Explosive Service Intl., and its subcontractor El Dorado Engineering, presented details of Contained Burn System (CBS). Representatives from the EPA, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), and LMD were available to discuss and answer questions from the community on removal actions.  EPA has provided the technical information on our website

Citizens were offered the opportunity to ask questions regarding the planned disposal steps and were provided a complete walk through of how the materials were to be processed and how the pollution controls will work.  They were also provided an overview of scheduled monitoring and testing milestones as the process proceeds.

The CBS should take at least five months to construct. According to the vendor, it will provide a maximum destruction of approximately 60,000 lbs. per day. The operation will be conducted on a twenty-four (24) hour basis to achieve the daily disposal rate required.

EPA provided was present and provided more technical information to the Community Action Group (CAG), during the CAG meeting on July 13, 2015.
