Team members Garielle Rodriguez and Sarah Thomas introduce the challenges of lead in drinking water, and the teams approach to addressing this problem through decentralized treatment with a sustainable filter. The team plans to investigate the performance of a sorbent made of biochar from spent coffee grounds, and a non-plastic container.
The team consists of four senior engineering students who are participating in this, both as a P3 team and as a senior design team. Erica McKenzie (environmental engineering) is the PI, and the students are: Alexander Zenos, Gabrielle Rodriguez, Nassier Boyce-Davis, and Sarah Thomas.
