Public Notice: Public Comment opportunity on a proposed cleanup plan for the HWY 24 Mill Site
Summary
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, in cooperation with EPA, has completed an Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis (EE/CA) for residential soils cleanup at the Highway 24 Mill Site. This EE/CA, which is open for public comment until June 7, provides rationale for cleanup of lead and arsenic-impacted soils, potential cleanup alternatives, and associated costs for the alternatives.
Overall, the plan proposes that:
- The recommended removal action (cleanup) will address elevated levels of lead and arsenic in residential soils through excavation of soils up to 12-inches.
- Following excavation, replacement with clean soil and ground cover will occur, where possible
We encourage all residents and interested parties to read the EE/CA and supporting documents provided in the administrative record file thoroughly and take part in the public comment period. Written comments will be accepted through June 7.
