First Integrated Urban Air Toxics Report to Congress
In July 2000, EPA issued the first of two reports required by the Clean Air Act on actions EPA has taken to reduce public health risks posed by air toxics emitted in urban areas. The report builds on information provided in the Integrated Urban Air Toxics Strategy, such as the methodology for developing the emissions inventory used to identify the 30 urban air toxics. The report also summarizes information on risk assessments conducted in several urban areas by EPA and states. It also provides a detailed description of 13 research needs to carry out the goals of the Integrated Urban Air Toxics Strategy and the EPA activities aimed at addressing these needs.
