THURSDAY: Press briefing on drinking water sampling and restoration progress in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene

BOONE, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2024) – On Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, Acting U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Jeaneanne Gettle will join Boone, N.C. Mayor Tim Frutelle and senior officials from North Carolina state and local agencies to provide updates on water sampling and restoration efforts in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.

*** Credentialed media who wish to participate should sign up no later than 3:00 p.m. EST, Wed, Oct. 30, 2024 at: https://www.epa.gov/ga/forms/epa-region-4-event-rsvp-form.  Registered participants are asked to not share the mobile lab address; the public cannot bring samples directly to the lab for testing – rather, they must coordinate with the local health department to submit samples for testing.
