ICIS-AIR Search User Guide
ICIS-AIR contains both emissions and compliance data on air pollution point sources regulated by the U.S. EPA and/or state and local air regulatory agencies. This information is used by states in preparation of State Implementation Plans (SIPs) to track the compliance status of point sources with various regulatory programs, and report emissions estimates for pollutants regulated under the Clean Air Act.
This is a brief user guide to the ICIS-AIR Search. Use the search to specify a facility or facilities by selecting any combination of facility name, geographic location, standard industrial classification, and/or pollutant. Only those facilities matching all specified criteria will be retrieved. Select more than one search option at a time to speed up the search.
Facility Selection Search Option
Search by Facility Name or ICIS-AIR ID.
Facility Name
Enter the complete or partial facility name to retrieve all facilities with that name. Select the "Containing" option when entering a partial name for a better retrieval the first time you access the data. When an "Exact Match" option is specified for a facility name, only facilities that exactly match the name as entered will be retrieved.
ICIS-AIR ID
Enter the complete or partial ICIS-AIR ID to retrieve all facilities with that ID. Select the "Containing" option when entering a partial ID for a better retrieval the first time you access the data.
Geography Search Option
Select from the following geographical search options: ZIP Code, Address, City, County, and State.
ZIP Code
Enter a full five digit ZIP Code. ZIP plus-4 formats are also supported.
Address
Enter a complete or partial street address.
City
Enter a complete or partial city name. State selection is required.
County
Enter a complete or partial county name. State selection is required.
State
Select a state name from the dropdown list. The list is alphabetical by state name followed by territories.
Note: We strongly recommend that you enter a small geographical area to begin the search since Envirofacts contains a large number of facilities.
Facility Industrial Classification Search Option
Search for facilities by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code or North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code industrial codes.
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code Search
You may enter a partial or complete SIC Code as search criteria for your search. You need to enter either facility or geography search criteria in conjunction with the SIC Code. The first two digits of the code define a major business sector, and the last two digits denote a facility's specialty within the major sector. Select a search option from the dropdown menu. For the "Exact Match" option enter a 4-digit SIC code. For "Beginning With" or "Containing" enter up to 4 digits.
North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code Search
You may enter a partial or complete NAICS Code as search criteria for your search. You need to enter either facility or geography search criteria in conjunction with the NAICS Code.
The individual digits within the NAICS code indicate different levels of granularity in identifying a business. Here is an example of the granularity the individual digits provide:

For the "Exact Match" option enter a 4 to 6-digit NAICS code. For "Beginning With" or "Containing" enter up to 6 digits.
Pollutant Search
Select a pollutant from the dropdown list. The list is alphabetical by pollutant name. You need to enter either facility or geography search criteria in conjunction with the pollutant name.
Search Results
Search results display EPA-regulated facilities matching your criteria. Clicking a Plant Name opens a Detail Plant View report.
