Cleanup Status

Limited soil excavation was conducted at the site. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) determined that no further action was required for all of the above SWMUs, except for SWMU 8 (the East Pond Area). Surface soil samples of chromium at this SWMU indicated levels above NJDEP Residential Criteria, but below Non-Residential Criteria. There were also other areas of the site (not related to SWMUs) where residential, but not non-residential soil standards were exceeded. As a result, a Deed Notice was implemented, limiting the entire site to non-residential re-use.

There is some groundwater contamination at the site in the West Pond Area. A Classification Exception Area (CEA) has been established for this area of contamination to restrict the use of groundwater and Monitored Natural Attenuation has been selected as the final groundwater remedy.
